The brewery was previously known simply as Brouwerij Bavik, after the town Bavikhove in which it was founded. It was renamed back to the family name De Brabandere when Albert DeBrabandere took over the brewery in 2014.
De Brabandere is Belgium’s 10th biggest brewery and has been family owned for over 120 years. There is a strong heritage and tradition at De Brabandere while at the same time they strive to maintain a stream of constant innovation to honour their reputation amongst beer connoisseurs and beer lovers.
They brew a wide variety of beers which over the years have picked up multiple awards all over the world.
We started working with De Brabandere as their UK beer agents in 2016. Having not previously been available in the UK before, we secured an importer for the beer and launched their Petrus Sour Beer range in June 2016. The Petrus beers were instantly recognised by beer fans as some of the world leading sour beers.
By Summer 2016 these sours, the favoured beers of Michael Jackson (The Beer Hunter), were available throughout the UK from Edinburgh to Exeter, with the ‘beer blending’ concept proving a real hit.
In September 2016 Boutique Bar Brands continued the roll out of the De Brabandere beers to include their core range with a national UK tour. This included five events in five days around the country with beer tastings and blending classes happening at De Hems and Draft House in London, North Bar in Leeds, Six Degrees North in Glasgow and Cornelius Beer and Wine in Edinburgh.
