Produced and bottled at a dedicated family distillery in Mexico, Código 1530 Tequila is a private tequila perfected over five generations. The hand-crafted tequila is bottled as unrested Blanco or aged in award-winning Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon barrels to produce 6-month Reposado,18-month Añejo, and 'Origen’ a 6-year Extra Añejo.
Unique to the line-up is a Rosa Tequila, which is created by aging the Blanco tequila for four weeks in un-charred Napa Valley Cabernet barrels, imparting subtle floral notes and a rose colour from the wine-stained barrels.
Código 1530 Tequila is 100% natural, with no additives, chemicals, colours or sweeteners.
El Tequila Privado
For generations, a closely guarded secret has been kept among a select group of Mexico’s most respected families and Los Bajos’ finest jimadors: “El Tequila Privado” – a private recipe from a little distillery in Amatitán. This local Amatitán artisan and distilling family has passionately produced this spirit, never veering from the centuries-old codes and customs – “Los Códigos” – that have made it the most selective tequila in the world.
Those who have enjoyed this private, previously nameless tequila are sharing with the world what is now known as Código 1530.
In Amatitán, every drop of Código 1530’s offerings: Blanco, Rosa, Reposado, Añejo, and “Origen,” a 6-year Extra-Añejo, has been perfected over several generations – embracing time-honored customs and the family recipe without ever veering from the traditions of the Los Bajos region and its tequileros and jimadors.
Código 1530 proudly bears the Jerusalem Cross as the symbol of its heritage story. This iconic cross sits atop the Jalisco Coat of Arms and dates back to 1530 when, after colonial struggle, Amatitán was officially recognized as a city of New Galencia. Jalisco was then given a coat of arms by the Spanish monarchy, which was anchored by the Jerusalem Cross. Código 1530’s name honors “Los Códigos,” the old-world codes and customs that shaped and still live on in Amatitán and the Los Bajos region to this day. These values are at the core of the proud families who served this tequila in their homes, and the artisan distilling family who has been the custodian of this private tequila for generations.

Código 1530 prides itself on striving to make the most selective tequila in the world, using only perfect inputs and age-old secret family processes. The tequila begins with fully matured agave aged over seven years, which is cooked in stainless steel ovens, fermented using an organic yeast from a family bakery in Amatitán, and distilled twice in stills handmade by the distilling family themselves. Our proprietary chopper allows us to extract only the juice and pulp of the agave leaving the rest of the plant intact. Each drop of Amatitán water used is from freshwater pools and rainwater, filtered through the volcanic soil of Los Bajos.
The Blanco is perfected over a lengthy, 15-day process. The rested tequilas are meticulously aged to taste using a time-honored family aging technique. This distinctive difference in aging technique embraces the clean elegance of wine making, to produce a uniquely delicate finish.
The French White Oak Cabernet Sauvignon barrels used have been sourced from some of the best vineyards in the Napa Valley, which helps to ensure that each and every barrel is worthy of bearing the Código 1530 name.
Earthy, mineral character that balances the citrus sweetness beautifully. We only use fully mature agave aged over 7 years, ensuring each agave’s Brix level (sugar content) meets our high standards. Our Blanco is unrested, never touching a barrel, so that the rich flavor of agave can be fully appreciated.
Leads with bright agave character and finishes with the soft floral notes of Cabernet. We source only the finest Napa Cabernet French White Oak barrels to age our Rosa. We leave our Rosa barrels uncharred, allowing the Cabernet to interact directly with the tequila imparting a subtle pink hue and light floral finish. Rested 1 Month.
Bright, sweet agave notes with the added complexity of vanilla, toasted caramel and subtle cocoa powder. Aged 6 months.
Our barrels are charred by hand on site at our private distillery in Amatitán. We age our tequila to taste instead of time adhering to a time-honored family aging process.
